Krishna marriage with Lakshmana and Rohini

Lakshmana was the wife of Lord Krishna and the last of the Asthabharya the eight principal queen-consorts. She was the daughter of an unnamed ruler of Madra provinces. The King organized the swayamvara ceremony, where the archer had to shoot the target to win the hand of bride for marriage. Among all the princes gathered, Duryodhana and Jarasandha miss the target. Arjun the Pandava prince and Krishna's cousin, described as the best archer at times, missed his aim at the target intentionally. Arjun’s brother Bhima refused to participate in deference to Krishna. Ultimately, Lord Krishna wins by hitting the target and got married to her. Rohini is also Krishna’s wife and one of the Asthabharya.
Whereas in The Bhagavata Purana it is mentioned that Lord Krishna abducts Lakshmana from the swayamvara.

Lord Krishna the Hindu god is supposed to be an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. He was Born to Devaki and Vasudev but brought up by his foster mother Yashoda. The love between Yashoda and Krishna was unconditional. Irrespective of all complains of Lord Krishna from villagers Krishna was very lovable to Yashoda and  even to villager also. Here are few glimpse of Krishna's childhood. Very nice images can be set as desktop wallpaper.

Sakshigopal Temple Puri India

Sakshigopal Temple is a medieval temple dedicated to Lord Krishna also known as Gopal. This temple is situated in the town of Sakshigopal on the Puri-Bhubaneshwar highway in Odisha India. The architecture of this temple is done in the Kallinga style.
The story of this temple is related to two brahimins. The younger one was poor but fell in love with the daughter of the second brahimin who was the village headman. Due to higher economic status the headman opposed the marriage. Once the villagers went on a pilgrimage to Kashi including the headman and the young man where the headman fell ill and was abandoned by fellow villagers. The young man served and took care of him so well that he soon got well and finally they reached Vrindavana. Pleased with the service of the young man, the headman in gratitude promised his daughter’s marriage with him.  But the headman went back on his promise asking the young man to produce a witness in support of his claim.
Young man returned to Vrindavana and asked Lord Gopal for help. Pleased by the young man's devotion lord agreed to come and bear witness to the promise on condition that he would follow the path the young man lead but the young man should never look back. The young man started leading the Lord but near the village they passed through the dune of sand, where the young man could not hear the Lord's footsteps and turned back. As the young man turned the Lord turned into a stone statue immediately. The villagers along with the headman were however so impressed that Lord himself came to back the young man's claim.  The young man got married to headman’s daughter and appointed as the first priests of the temple built in honor of Lord Gopal. Witness in Sanskrit means Sakshi and Lord Gopal himself came to bear witness, due to this fact this place famously known as Sakshigopal or “The Witness Gopal".
The Temple is famous for celebrating the annual Amla Navami Festival. Amla means Gooseberry and Navami means Ninth day in a lunar cycle. This festival is related with the practice of touching of Radha's feet the mythological lover of Lord Krishna .As per legend originally the temple was without a statue of Radha. But when a girl named Lakshmi claimed to be the incarnation of Radha a statue from northern India was brought and installed here as it is believed that Lord Krishna should not be without his true love Radha. The statue was adorned originally with Ghagra and Choli but when the statue was attired with the traditional Sari of Odisha, the feet of the statue were visible which was taken as holy sign by the priests. From that day the festival of Amla Navami started and devotees are allowed to touch the Goddess's feet inside the temple. The food offerings at Sakshigopal temple are made of wheat instead of rice is one of exceptional fact among the Vishnu temples all over the world.

Lord Krishna marriage with Jambavati and Satyabhama

The story of Lord Krishna’s marriage with Jambavati and Satyabhama is closely related with story of Syamantaka. Syamantaka was a precious diamond which was secured by a nobleman of Yadava dynasty Satrajit from Lord Surya. When Lord Krishna came to knew about Syamantaka he asked Satrajit for the jewel to present it in front of king Ugrasena for safe hand. But Satrajit refused.

Satrajit gifted that precious jewel to his brother Prasena, the ruler of a Yadava province who once went to forest for hunting wearing Syamantaka but was killed by a lion. The lion fled with the jewel and entered into the mountain cave of Jambavan. Jambavan, known for his role in the Ramayana, killed the lion and gave the jewel to his son to play. When Prasena did not return, Satrajit set an accusation on Lord Krishna of killing Prasena for the sake of the jewel

Lord Krishna, in order to remove the stain of false allegation on his reputation, set out in search of the jewel with his brother Balarama and reached to Jambavan's cave. They saw a child playing with the priceless jewel. Child cried aloud seeing the strangers which warned Jambavan. Jambavan attacked Krishna and both of them fought fiercely with each other for 28 days. When Jambavan, his whole body terribly weakened from the hammering of Krishna's fists, he recognized him as Lord Rama and surrendered.

Jambavan regretted for having fight with Lord Krishna, Jambavan returned the jewel to Lord Krishna and also gave his daughter Jambavati for marriage. Lord Krishna returned the jewel to Satrajit, who in turn apologized for his false accusation. He promptly offered Lord Krishna to have the jewel and his daughter Satyabhama for marriage. Lord Krishna accepted Satyabhama as his wife but refused to take the jewel.

These beautiful images are from Boise Hare Krishna Temple and Vedic Cultural Center ,situated in Boise State University, Boise, Idaho of United States. Initially this temple was built in 1986 in one of the member’s home. The Boise Hare Krishna Temple was the first Lord Krishna Temple in the town as there was no Krishna temple in town before.

A new temple was established between two brick duplexes in 1999. The Beautifully designed brick exterior of the temple merges in with the duplexes and the neighborhood. Phool Bangla Festival at Banke Bihari Temple

The Phool Bangla celebration is very interesting and important to know for all Krishna devotees. This festival is held in Banke Bihari Temple of Vrindavan from Chaitra Shukla Ekadasi up to Haryali Amavasya (Shravan Amavasya) according to Hindu calendar.

On this auspicious day, the Banke Bihari Temple along with Nidhivan is attractively decorated with summer flowers by thousands of Lord Krishna’s devotees. The main reason behind this festival is to protect Shri Banke Bihari from scorching summer’s high temperature. The main attraction along with all decoration is that cloths and ornaments of deity are also made by using flowers and leaves only. The ritual of Panchamrit abhishek (ceremonial bathing with cow dung, milk, curd, honey and water) is also done at Nidhivan in the morning.

Devotees throng Nidhivan as well as the Banke Bihari Temple in mass to offer prayers and to seek Lord's divine blessings even in burning summer.
