Kansa was the evil brother of Devaki, who was demonous in nature. Kamsa was told in a prophecy that the eighth child of Devaki would kill him. Lord Krishna was born as the eighth son. After Krishna grew up, he returned to the kingdom, Kamsa was eventually killed by Krishna, as was originally predicted by the divine prophecy. Krisna in the meantime also slayed many demons and freed the earth from their malice.
